We ended the evening at a bar called El Sur, "my living room" as Phil described it. He and Lola brought a cake and bought a bottle of champagne to share with all their friends because it was Lola's Saint's Day. (In Spain, in addition to your birthday, you also celebrate the day of the Saint whose name you share, so people were giving her gifts.)

Phil introduced us to people as "his friends from the computer" and their eyes would widen in surprise that we had actually materialized in their dimension. Nothing brings the Internet to life more than realizing that there are real people connected to the other side of it.
